2013 Scholarship Winners

The Gom Benn Scholarship Fund presented nearly $6,000 in scholarships to 35 students at a picnic lunch Aug. 17, 2013, at Barnes Park in Monterey Park.

The Stephen Huahn Memorial Scholarship, presented each year to the top college student, was awarded to Keith Young, a senior majoring in biology at Cal State Fullerton. The Stephen Huahn scholarship was established with a $10,000 donation by Harold and Mary Wong to honor the memory of their son.

The Ron Chin scholarship was presented to another top college student, Albert Lowe, a senior majoring in biochemistry at UC San Diego. The Ron Chin scholarship was endowed with a $10,000 donation in the memory of the son of former Scholarship Fund President Gene Chin and his wife Alma. 

The Gim Hong Lee scholarship, endowed with a $10,000 donation from his wife, Sun Woo Lee, was presented to the top graduate school student, Hayley Wong, who studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Roy Lim and Gim Oi Wong scholarship for the top high school student was presented to Brendan Yang of the LA. Center for Advanced Studies. The scholarship, established with a $10,000 donation, honors the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lim.
