The Gom Benn Scholarship Fund presented more than $6,725 in scholarships to 39 students at an awards lunch July 26, 2014, in Monterey Park.
The Stephen Huahn Memorial Scholarship, presented each year to the top college student, was awarded to Jacqueline Wong, a freshman at the University of Puget Sound. The Stephen Huahn scholarship was established with a $10,000 donation by Harold and Mary Wong to honor the memory of their late son.
The Gim Hong Lee Memorial Scholarship was presented to another top college student, Brittney Young, a senior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The Gim Hong Lee Scholarship was endowed with a $10,000 donation from his wife, Sun Woo Lee.
The Ron Chin Memorial Scholarship, was endowed with a $10,000 donation in the memory of the son of former Scholarship Fund President Gene Chin and his wife Alma. It was presented to the top graduate school student, Albert Lowe of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
The Roy Lim and Gim Oi Wong scholarship for the top high school student was presented to Brendan Yang, a junior at the L.A. Center for Enriched Studies.The scholarship, established with a $10,000 donation, honors the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lim.
