The Gom Benn Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 by Bing S. Wong 黄植礼, with a contribution of $12,000, plus a yearly donation of $1,000 from his Bing Wong Scholarship Foundation in San Bernardino. Many other generous Gom Benn (甘边村) members have added donations. Several families have established memorial scholarships in the name of their loved ones with a contribution of $10,000 or more. The 2025 memorial scholarships were awarded to:


Stacey Lau was presented the Ron Chin Memorial Scholarship for the top graduate student. She is studying to be a food product development scientist at Chapman University. Her interests include volleyball, piano, and going to the park. She is the granddaughter of Sui Ching Lau.


Marilyn Lau was presented the Chew & Yowly Hoi Memorial Scholarship for the top part-time graduate student. She is studying human resources management at the University of Southern California. Her interests include yoga, pilates and traveling. She is the granddaughter of Sui Ching Lau.


Rebecca Tam was presented the Stephen Huahn Memorial Scholarship for the top college student. She is studying multimedia with an emphasis in graphic design/print at California Lutheran University. Her goal is to become a brand manager. Her interests include crafting and cooking. She is the granddaughter of Margie Tam.


Kaitlyn Lai was presented the Gim Hong and Sun Woo Lee Memorial Scholarship for the top college senior. After graduating from California State University Sacramento, she is studying nursing at Concordia University. Her interests include baking and cooking. She is the granddaughter of Frances Lai.


Joshua Tam was presented the Johnny Wong Memorial Scholarship for the college senior with the best cumulative four-year Grade Point Average. He was an aerospace and mechanical engineering student at Case Western Reserve University. His interests include skiing and playing clarinet. He is the grandson of Margie Tam.


Marcus Hau was presented the Roy & Gim Oi Lim Memorial Scholarship as the top high school senior. He was also presented a Johnny Wong Community Service Award for his more than 400 hours of volunteer service. His career goal is to be an air traffic controller. His interests include tennis, history and traveling. He is the great-grandson of Sui Ching Lau.
